Prof Peter Moore talking about Energy Transitions.

We are delighted to welcome Prof Peter Moore as the next speaker at the Cognisium Webinar Series on August 16th, 2022 at 12:00PM AEST.

Professor Peter Moore is a senior energy executive and has over 35 years of industry experience in the resources industry and academia. Most of his career has been spent in senior and executive management roles within the oil and gas industry, mainly at Esso Australia Ltd, Exxon Exploration Company (Houston) and Woodside Energy Ltd, although he started his career in the mining industry and with the WA Geological Survey. At Woodside, Peter held many roles, including leading the company’s geoscience technology function, and ended his executive career as an Executive Vice President responsible for Woodside’s global exploration efforts. In this capacity he managed an annual budget of roughly $500 million, was a member of Woodside’s Executive Committee (ExCom) and its New Opportunities Management Committee, a leader of its Crisis Management Team and Head of the Geoscience function across the company. While at Woodside, he also served on the federal government’s grant committee for geothermal energy.


Peter retired from Woodside in 2013, taking up the role of Chair of the Curtin Graduate School Advisory Board, and gradually joining the boards of various companies.

For four years from 2014 until 2018, he was a Non-executive Director of Central Petroleum Ltd, Chair of Earth Sciences WA (ESWA Inc.), and Professor and Executive Director of Corporate Engagement within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University.

As a Professor at Curtin, he was involved in the university’s industry engagement strategy and research direction for both the Curtin Business School and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.


Currently, Peter is a Non-executive Director of Beach Energy Ltd, Non-executive Director of Carnarvon Petroleum Ltd, Adjunct Professor at Curtin University, Chair of Curtin’s Faculty of Science and Engineering Advisory Council, Member of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce Advisory Council in Australia, and Non-Executive Advisor to Lavaux Global.


He provides executive education throughout Australia and overseas, focussed on resources and energy, and has his own consulting company (Norris Strategic Investments Pty Ltd). Peter has a BSc (Hons 1) from the University of Wollongong, a PhD from the University of Adelaide, an Executive MBA from Melbourne University and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mình chơi xổ số kiểu cho vui là chính, coi như giải trí nên cũng không đặt nặng chuyện trúng đậm. Trước đây nghe người ta bàn tán đủ kiểu “cầu” này nọ, mình cũng thử để ý xem có gì hay không. Theo dõi một thời gian thì thấy đôi lúc có vài điểm lặp lại, nên mỗi lần đọc nhận định mình thường ghi lại vài ý ngắn rồi chờ kết quả để đối chiếu, coi thử có phải mình đang tự hợp lý hóa không. Có hôm trúng chút thì vui, nhưng cũng nhiều bữa lệch hết nên mình luôn nhắc bản thân giữ tỉnh táo và kiểm soát tiền. Thỉnh thoảng mình lướt cho có chuyện…

Mình mua vé số chủ yếu cho vui, kiểu giải trí nhẹ nhàng thôi, trúng thì coi như hên còn không trúng cũng chẳng áp lực gì. Trước đây nghe bạn bè bàn chuyện “cầu” với “kèo” rôm rả nên mình cũng tò mò thử tìm hiểu, nhưng mới đầu thấy toàn thuật ngữ nên hơi ngợp. Sau một thời gian theo dõi, mình tự ghi lại vài nhận định mình thấy hay lặp, rồi đem so với kết quả để xem có phải mình đang tự tưởng tượng ra quy luật không. Lâu lâu mình cũng ghé soicauxsmb.io đọc cho có chuyện nói chuyện, nhưng vẫn tự nhắc là đừng tin tuyệt đối. Có hôm trúng chút thì vui,…
